Break up the tuna
Add the well-drained tuna to a medium bowl and, using a fork, flake it into small pieces.

1 can solid white tuna
Make the tuna salad
Add the mayonnaise, onion, apple, celery, pickle relish, Dijon mustard, vinegar or lemon juice, salt and pepper to the bowl. Use the fork to gently blend the ingredients together. If the mixture seems dry, add more mayonnaise until the tuna salad is the desired consistency.
¼ cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons finely diced yellow onion
3 tablespoons finely diced apple
3 tablespoons finely diced celery
2 teaspoons dill pickle relish
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
¼ teaspoon white wine vinegar
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Begin assembling the sandwiches on the June Pan
Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread. Place each slice of bread butter-side down on the June Pan. Spread mayonnaise evenly over two slices of bread.
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon mayonnaise

Add the tuna salad and cheese slices
Add a cheese slice to the two slices of bread with the mayonnaise. Divide the tuna salad evenly between the other two slices of bread, flattening the top of the tuna to create a level surface for the cheese, then add a slice of cheese on top of the tuna salad.
4 cheddar cheese slices
Toast the sandwich
Transfer the June Pan to the middle shelf of the June Oven. Toast the sandwiches about 16 minutes, until the bread is toasted, the cheese is bubbly, and the tuna salad is heated through. June will notify you when the sandwiches are ready.

Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the June Oven. Using a flip spatula, close the sandwiches and press firmly to adhere the cheese. If desired, slice the sandwiches in half. Serve hot.
