Add water
Pour enough water into the larger pan so that it reaches halfway up the side of the pan with the condensed milk (at least 2” deep).
Bake the dulce de leche
Carefully transfer the pans to the middle shelf of the June Oven. Bake the dulce de leche 1 hour and 15 minutes, until it has thickened and turned light brown. For best results, check the water level in the large pan after 38 minutes. June will notify you when it is time to check the water.
Check the water level
After 38 minutes, check how much water has evaporated and add more if necessary. Continue to bake the dulce de leche for another 37 minutes, or until the milk has changed to a dark honey color and thickened. June will notify you when the dulce de leche is ready.
Remove the dulce de leche from the oven
Carefully remove the pans from the June Oven, then lift the smaller pan with the dulce de leche from the larger pan and set it aside to cool slightly.
Serve or store the dulce de leche
Scrape the warm dulce de leche into a bowl or small pitcher and serve, or transfer it to a jar to enjoy later.
